About CostMyProject

CostMyProject exists to answer one question honestly: what will your home project actually cost?
Search that question today and you'll mostly find two things: thin articles padded around a vague range ("$300–$800 per room!"), and lead-generation funnels dressed up as advice — pages whose real job is to harvest your phone number for contractors.
We're building the third option: a toolbox. One excellent calculator per project type, each computing a real number from current, dated, sourced price data — with every step of the math shown on the page. Guides exist to support the tools, not the other way around.
What we believe
- A cost answer without shown math is a guess. Every calculator on this site has a "show the math" panel with the actual arithmetic.
- Stale data is misinformation. Every price table is stamped with the date it was checked and the source it came from. We re-verify on a schedule (see methodology).
- Your inbox is not the price of admission. No email gates, no popups, no "call for a quote" dead ends. The tools are free and always will be.
- Estimates are not quotes. We say this everywhere because it's true: our numbers help you budget and sanity-check bids, not replace them.
How we make money
Plainly: we plan to earn through display advertising and affiliate links on materials (for example, linking to paint you can buy). Our disclosure page lays this out in full. Two promises: monetization never changes a calculator's math, and any paid placement is labeled as one.
Who's behind this
CostMyProject is a small independent project — a researcher and a set of rigorous editorial standards, not a content farm. We don't publish fake author personas: content on this site is produced by the CostMyProject research team and verified against the sources cited on each page. Read exactly how we work in our editorial policy.
