CostMyProject exists to help you budget home projects with honest numbers. This page states, in plain language, what our numbers are — and what they are not.
Estimates, not quotes
Every cost on this site is an approximate budgeting estimate, not a quote, bid, offer, or contract. Calculator results, price ranges, tables and figures are computed from published price data, retailer listings and market research, as described in our methodology. Real project costs vary by location, material grade, site conditions, contractor and market changes after publication. Always get written quotes from licensed local contractors before committing to a project.
Not professional advice
Content here is general information about home-project costs. It is not construction, engineering, electrical, plumbing, legal or financial advice, and it does not replace a licensed professional who has inspected your property. Work involving structure, gas, electrical panels or roofing can be dangerous and is often regulated — hire licensed professionals for it.
Accuracy and updates
We work to keep prices current and date our checks on each page, but we do not guarantee that any figure is accurate, complete or up to date at the moment you read it. Prices move; treat every figure as a planning range and verify it against current local quotes.
Advertising and third-party links
The site displays advertising and may contain affiliate links, as described in our disclosure and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content, pricing or practices of third-party websites and advertisers.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CostMyProject is not liable for losses arising from reliance on our estimates — including cost overruns, project decisions or disputes with contractors. Full terms are in our terms of use.
